About
I have been a potter for over 50 years. Started with night school lasses at the old ADSS where I fell into the "madness" of clay. My work is functional and sculptural using the potter's wheel and hand building.
I am also an avid gardener. Dirt or clay, sometimes wonder if this is from the childhood fun of playing in the mud.
Despite having played with clay this long I almost feel like a beginner. There is so much I want to learn and do and not enough time. For a time a taught pottery. Learned so much from our shared ideas and "what if we fry this".
I call jokingly call my signature brown glaze "Earth" my political glaze. Clay and glaze materials are mined. The Albany clay used for the brown glaze came from a mine in Albany, NY, USA. that has now run out. Therefore like so many of our earth's resources mine is finite.
